Some LC III tinkering

Click on one of the segments below to watch:

Link to the intro segement of this video. The thumbnail is a closeup of the front case of the LC III, showing the rainbow Apple logo and Garamound font branding on the left side. The computer is placed on a desk which has an LED strip light behind it set to green. Other items visible include a 15 inch 720p TV on the left and an iMac G4 to the right. A blue rounded button is added to the thumbnail, which says "intro" in a pixel style font Link to the main segment of this video. The thumbnail shows a direct capture of the LC III running System 7.5, with the "neko" virtual cat desktop accessory open, consisting of a pixel-style black and white cat reacting and following your mouse cursor on screen. The lower left has a small camera view that's pointed at the keyboard and mouse as I'm using the LC III. A purple rounded button is added to the thumbnail, which says "software 'n stuff" in a pixel style font Link to the bonus segment of this video. The thumbnail shows a generic USB floppy drive set up with an iMac G4, with a Verbatim floppy disk being held up that has a sticker label that says "Random Stuff And Things!" The LED strip light on my desk was turned on here and set to purple, and you can see a PS2 slim along with a small desk plant in the background. A green rounded button is added to the thumbnail, which says "bonus" in a pixel style font

a casual (?) video of me demonstrating some stuff with a Macintosh LC III, originally made to go with the blog post I did about it for #MARCHintosh2023 last month, but wasn't able to finish at the time. it's more or less in a 'ASMR' video style with no narration.

and yes, this video is being hosted on my website! It's more of a proof of concept thing for right now, since this site is still being hosted on Github Pages and haven't yet found a decent web hosting service that works for me. Regardless, since this video is small enough to fit under the storage limit, I've given it a go anyway to see what it would be like.

I did have to split the intro and bonus section of this video into separate segments, due to the 100 MB per file limit (which is understandable), so the navigation for those are at the top of this page. It may be slightly inconvenient, but I decided to experiment with it anyway as I thought it somewhat gives a similar experience to an interactive multimedia CD-ROM program (if you know what I mean)!

this method of hosting video is inspired by Razorback's video catalog, a very good example of how self-hosting video can be done.
