Screenshot of Final Cut Pro 7.0.4 running under OS X Mavericks on a Early 2011 13 inch MacBook Pro. The screenshot shows the editing software open with a project, with the timeline consisting of a VGA capture recording from the LC III, with a second video track above that including camera footage showing the keyboard and mouse as I'm using the computer, positioned and cropped to a small portion of the corner in the video. The file names used for the camera footage indicate that it is a ProRes 422 transcode, to help editing with this version of Final Cut.

Final Cut Pro 7 on a 2011 MacBook Pro

Running the classic Final Cut Pro 7 on a Early 2011 13 inch MacBook Pro, which I got earlier this year.

The project in the screenshot is an early draft I made of the LC III video, which was what I originally was going to edit that video on. This didn't end up working out, as I found rendering video previews for playback took a little too long even on this computer. Anyone who's used these older Final Cut versions prior to 7 may know what I'm talking about here, as they can't always render a more complex timeline in real-time during playback. I found it can also be picky with importing certain video files, as I also had issues getting XAVC S clips recorded with my Sony a5100 imported here. I know it can definitely be done, I just need to spend some time experimenting with different solutions for transcoding those clips to ProRes; probably with something like FFmpeg.
